James D. Showers

James D. Showers (b. 1841, d. 1913) is one of the founding brothers of Showers Brothers Furniture in Bloomington. He was also involved in the city council and MCCSC School Board.


He is a member of the Monroe County Hall of Fame on which his plaque reads "One of the founding brothers of Showers Brothers, Bloomington Furniture Manufacturer, 1869; City Council member 14 years; School board member 17 years; Citizens Loan & Trust company president."

Showers had one son, Charles Showers, who died in 1896 at age 25. Charles Showers married Lelia Rogers and they had one surviving daughter, Mildred.
