Cherry Hill Park

From Bloomingpedia

Cherry Hill Park was a baseball field located near the intersection of 16th Street and Indiana Avenue. It was open at least in the early 20th century, and brought African-American barnstorming teams from around the state to play against two local teams, the Black Diamonds and the Red Giants.

Those teams also played regularly against teams with white players, an unusual sight for the day.

Robert Aiken, known as "Dollar Bob", was a well-known player and manager of the Diamonds. He also owned a pool hall on 8th Street.
