Winslow Woods Park

From Bloomingpedia

Winslow Woods Park is the large park, wooded area and playground across the street from the Monroe County YMCA. The park is about 30 acres, most of which is wooded with a few hiking trails. The clear area has a playground for children of all ages, two shelters, a full size basketball court with two goals and parking for about 40 cars. The park also consists of the Willie Streeter Community Gardens and the Bloomington Community Orchard.

The city began aquiring the land from the Winslow Family from 1966 through 1979. The park was finished in 1990 with the addition of the playground equipment through a service project initiated by the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity.

Future city plans for this park include resurfacing the playground area, developing the hiking trails and added a restroom.
