Monroe County Chapter of American Red Cross announces its first-ever Ride for the Red motorcycle poker run to honor military heroes on Saturday, May 21, 2011. Registration begins for the Ride at Harley-Davidson/Buell of Bloomington at 9 a.m., with kickstands up at 11:30 a.m. Riders will follow a scenic route through Monroe and Owen Counties, stopping at veteran service organizations and a community center in beautiful Owen County. The poker run will end at the American Legion Post 18 in Bloomington, where riders will enjoy a BBQ, live music, raffles and prizes. The event will take place rain or shine. Reflecting the Chapter’s annual Heroes for the Red Cross campaign theme to Support our Military Heroes, the ride proceeds will benefit and support military members and their families, local disaster relief, emergency preparedness and lifesaving programs. The first 50 bikes will receive a Ride t-shirt and event pin. Thank you to our sponsors for the ride: Harley-Davidson/Buell of Bloomington, T.I.S.
