From Bloomingpedia

Joseph S. Dinsmore (January 1, 1836 - ?) was a Civil War veteran, and a farmer and stock-raiser in Monroe County.

Dinsmore was born in Ireland to John Dinsmore and his wife Margaret. The family emigrated to this county in 1838.

Dinsmore enlisted in August of 1862, in Company F, Eighty-second Indiana Infantry, and was engaged in the following battles: Perryville, Ky.; Stone River, Tenn; Chickamauga, Resaca, Big Shanty, Kenesaw Mountain, Peach Tree Creek, Atlanta, Johnsboro and Bentonville, besides numerous skirmishes and in Sherman’s “march to the sea.” Discharged in 1865, he then began an unsuccessful furniture business in Bloomington. He returned to farming about five years later.

Dinsmore was married on October 6, 1868, to the former Mary A. Henderson, and they had three children: Leon Wade, Wylie Henderson and Joseph Paul.
