Hewitt Drugs

From Bloomingpedia

Hewitt Drugs was a Downtown drug store owned by Amos Hewitt for many years. Hewitt purchased the former Cofield Drugs in 1967, and three years later the prescriptions department on Stoutes Drug Store in the Graham Hotel.

The store was located on the south side of The Square until 1986, when the entire block was remodeled into Fountain Square Mall. He moved the store to the west side of The Square and put up a display of drug store memorabilia. In the twenty years previous, seven family-owned pharmacies had gone out of business, and three years later Hewitt joined them, closing his pharmacy and going to work at Osco Drugs.
