Dunn Meadow

From Bloomingpedia

Dunn Meadow is a grass meadow just northwest of the Indiana Memorial Union. Its north border is 7th Street and its west border is Indiana Avenue. It is often used as a place for concerts, festivals, conventions, protests, camp-outs as well as just a place to relax. You often will see people playing with their dogs, or throwing a football or frisbee.

In the 1980's, the IU Men's Ultimate Frisbee club used to practice in the meadow, but later stopped after the grass was excessively damaged.

In 2009, a James Brosher photo in the meadow was featured in MSNBC's This Week in Pictures.

Events

  • Bloomington Renaissance Faire
  • Culture Shock
  • In 2009, the university won a Victoria's Secret contest and was rewarded with a large concert/party in the meadow, featuring the band Girl Talk. The size of the event spawned many complaints concerning damage to the meadow and the volume of the concert, which was audible for miles outside of Bloomington.
