4th Street Post Office

The Post Office on 4th Street and Washington Street formerly served the downtown area and west side mostly. The land that the building and parking lots sat on is actually owned by the First Methodist Church across the street. This post office closed permanently in 2011 and was demolished in 2013. It was replaced as the main post office by the building that was formerly the Ponderosa restaurant on South Walnut Street.

Also known as the Downtown Post Office, is was the mail hub for the local zip codes; 47401, 47402, 47403, 47404, 47405, 47406, 47407, and 47408.
